Be An Ally
The Thai Citizenship movement needs allies. Much of the Thai population is unaware of the abuse, exploitation and denial of rights happening in their very own country. Much less of the world is aware of this. Be an ally. Educate yourself and educate others. Contact Your Own Government
Thai Citizenship Project is asking other nations to place pressure on the Thai government to change its laws and provide its ethnic minorities with their basic rights. Write to your government representatives and educate them and encourage them to pressure the Thai government for reform. TCP is especially concerned with changing the current law of citizenship that grants it based on the year of residence. Current law allows residents who have moved to Thailand before 1985 to apply for citizenship but TCP is working to change this law to one that is based on 10 years of residency and not on an arbitrarily fixed year.

Donate to Non-Citizen Families
Thai Citizenship Project can direct your donation to two specific causes.

DNA testing
DNA testing to prove family lineage and thus prove eligibility for Thai citizenship is costly. For any family to do so they must travel either to Chiang Mai or to Bangkok and then beyond that pay for the costs of the tests (approximately 2000 Thai Baht per person). For any family to do a DNA test they must pay a minimum of 4000 baht, 2000 for a parent and 2000 for every child tested. You can support TCP’s efforts by donating to the DNA testing fund that TCP has established.

Scholarship
Since non-citizens are unable to access government funded scholarships for school, many non-citizen children do not receive proper education. Your donation to TCP’s Scholarship Fund will allow non-citizen youth to pursue education, while TCP works with them to gain their citizenship.
